Our Guy in Galway: On Ken Bruen

http://www.murderati.com/storage/Ken20Bruen.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1332409240500In 2004 I discovered a wild crime novel called The Guards by Ken Bruen. Written in lean style that was poetically hardboiled, the book blew my mind. Along with American writers James Sallis and Jason Starr, both whom I'd discovered the year before, the Irish born Bruen soon became one of my favorite crime writers. Still going strong eight years after (finally) launching in the states, the prolific writer is constantly releasing quality product.

A few months past, when One More Robot editor-in-chief Dean Van Nyguyen mentioned that #11 of his bad-ass pop magazine was going to be the Interview Issue, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity for me to rap with Bruen. Big thanks to Ken for granting the interview as well as writer Jason Starr and my big sister Sylvia for their help with this story.
